Obituary for Alvie Marr Reese

Alvie Marr (Lefty) Reese departed this life on May 26th in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He was born October 13, 1936 in Spur, Texas to parents Dexter Lee and Elsie Ione (Gunnels) Reese.
After a brief stint in the Army, serving our country, Lefty spent most of his life driving over the road to support his family. In 1959, he met Alice Lee Mashburn at a truck stop diner where she was a waitress. They were married on April 30, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They later settled down in Sand Springs to raise their family.
Lefty enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He loved a good “debate” with his grandkids who called him Grandpa Oscar because he could get a little grumpy during those discussions.
Lefty is survived by his wife, Alice Lee (Mashburn) Reese, Brother, Herbert Lee Reese and wife Jeanie of Thomson, Georgia, Daughter, Sandy Stay of Sand Springs, son Kevin Reese and wife Christy of Tulsa, daughter Tammy Soles and husband David of Sand Springs, Daughter-in-law Roberta Reese, five granddaughters, six grandsons, six great granddaughters, five great grandsons, one great-great grandson, and numerous other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Dexter and Elsie, sister Imogene Bouley, son Michael Ray Reese, and son-in-law, Robert Stay, Jr.
A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Garden Heights Free Will Baptist Church.
