Obituary for Betty Jo Budd

Betty Jo Pugh -Towell-Budd
Betty Jo Budd joined our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Betty Jo Pugh was born October 25, 1938 to Jessie Lee Pugh and Hattie Taylor of Stigler, Oklahoma. One of four siblings who proceeded her in death, Betty was a hard-working retail counter salesperson at Libby’s Restaurant and Warehouse Market in Tulsa prior to being a housewife the last years of her life.
Betty married Jimmy Lee Towell and had three boys, Jimmy Lee Towell, Jr. of Duncan, OK; Larry Wayne Towell, deceased; and Chris Lynn Towell of Tulsa, OK. After her divorce from Jimmy, Betty married Daniel Harlan Budd and enjoyed 44 wonderful years of marriage while being a stepmother to his children, Danna Christie Budd Fowble of Norman, OK and Toby Terry of Tulsa, OK. She also claimed Dan’s four stepchildren Deborah Ann Hays (deceased), Paul Darryl Hays, Tulsa, OK; Michael O’Brien Hays, Broken Arrow, OK and Thomas Glenn Hays, Oklahoma City, OK.
A faithful and loved wife, Betty stood by Dan through troubled times and hardship keeping strong to her faith and love for him. Dan and Betty enjoyed dancing when they were younger and enjoyed worshiping together while watching TBN Christian Network. Together, they were loved by many grandchildren….a huge family that is scattered all across Oklahoma and North Carolina which includes: Mellissa Evette Jones, Comanche, OK; Adam Lee Towell, North Carolina; Andrew Thomas Towell, Duncan, OK; Christopher Michael Towell, Comanche,OK; Nicholas Kyle Towell, Duncan, OK; and Matthew Christopher Towell, Tulsa, OK. Coupled with grandchildren, Betty was loved by 17 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.
Betty will be missed by all as the family cherishes memories of her life and rejoice in knowing Betty is watching over all of us from heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Chapter or the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Southwest Chapter.
The family wishes to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other medical staff who provided critical care for Betty at St. Francis Heart Center in Tulsa.
