Obituary for Jimmy Lee "Starr" Butler, Jr.

Jimmy Lee "Starr" Butler, Jr., 55, passed away suddenly September 14, 2018, after a short illness. Jimmy was born on August 2, 1963, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Thelma Butler.
Jimmy grew up in Chouteau, Oklahoma; graduated from Chouteau High School, and a forever Chouteau Wildcat. As Jimmy posted on his Facebook less than 2 months ago, he said it best: "Yep! As I age, the more fondly I recall my years proudly as a "Wildcat". It was more than a school motto for me, and the rest of us. Being a Wildcat was an ATTITUDE. We were the ones you didn't out do, outrun, overcome, or sneak something by us. We all had the spirit of being WILD and fierce like rebels who conquered the system and still put our education up high on our priority list. We were faster, better, ornerier, and more fun. Notorious for years. We are the Chouteau Wildcats." Jimmy went on to attend the University of Tulsa, receiving a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Letters.
Jimmy was truly an artist, and he had a zest for the arts. He was a musician, a painter, a poet, and a producer. When Jimmy would write, you would feel his words. He would not only tell you that you are amazing, he left you feeling and knowing that you are truly amazing. Jimmy also enjoyed painting recreationally. His paintings were his outlet and allowed him to get his feelings out and on canvas. Jimmy was a talented singer and guitar player. He performed for years at various events and gatherings. Jimmy was also a counselor, a humanitarian, an influencer, a teacher, a healer, and a philanthropist. He was someone that you could easily talk to, and he always had some uplifting words of encouragement and guidance ready to help. Jimmy was a kind and gentle soul. He was a free spirit. His heart was pure, and he had nothing but positive thoughts and wishes for everyone. He was a friend and brother to all. Jimmy, the world does not shine as bright now without you in it, but heaven has gained a new star.
Jimmy is survived by his mother, Thelma Butler, Tulsa, OK; sister, Diana Tameny, Tulsa, OK; sister, Sandra Braeckel and husband Richard, Broken Arrow, OK; brother, C.J.
