Obituary for William Joseph Cummins

William Joseph Cummins, often referred to as "Bill", by friends and family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the age of 59.

Bill was born on October 12, 1959, and is the youngest of George and Bettye Cummins' six children. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1977, and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa in 1982.

He married the love of his life, Abbey (Cotter) Cummins, on December 22, 1984. Together, they raised three daughters. All recognizing him as a funny, kind, and selfless man.

Bill loved drawing and painting portraits, landscapes, murals, logos, and much more. He was very talented, and his artwork is treasured by many. He also enjoyed music. He played bass guitar and sang vocals in "The Junction Band" with the late Don Brown on drums, and Phillip Kragel on guitar. For many years, he gave guitar and bass lessons to students of all ages.

Bill adored his grandchildren, and never turned down the opportunity to spend time with them. This includes his granddaughters, Alayna, Amelia, and Halle, and grandsons, Braylon, Barrett, Damien, Eddie, and Jermaine.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Mary Moses and Georgia Casey. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Abbey; daughters; Kimberly and her husband Berlin Jenkins; Emily and her husband Michael Freeman; and Jamie Hill and her husband David Jones.

Bill also leaves behind his brother, John Cummins; two sisters, Gay Miller and Margaret Cummins; his in-laws; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was loved by all that knew him, and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home - Westwood Chapel located at 4424 S. 33rd W. Ave, Tulsa, OK 74107. (918) 446-0010
