Obituary for Billy Don Felkner

Billy Don Felkner, 84 died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday
December 26, 2017.

Born and raised in Tulsa, OK the son of Marvin and Eva Felkner on August 28, 1933. He was a lifelong resident of West Tulsa. He attended Park and Porter Elementary, Clinton Middle School and Webster High School. The day after he graduated high school he left on the US Navy ship Talladega and severed as a Yeoman to the captain for 4 years. After his service he worked with older brother Eugene in San Diego, CA as a brick layer. He moved back to Tulsa and was attending Tulsa Tech Downtown studying to be a draftsman. Bill was a self-taught electrical drafting engineer and was employed at Seismograph Service Corporation for 26 years. He had a sweet tooth like no other. He was walking to the ice cream store and met the love of his life Norma Lilly and married her on May 2, 1958 at Sheridan Road Baptist Church. He designed and laid the brick to the house they have resided in for the past 54 years in Berryhill, where they raised their two daughters Brenda and Karen.

Bill’s passion was singing in his home church Red Fork Baptist. He was a member of the church quartet the Fisherman They traveled around the area singing at local churches. The song you have heard “Serenade by Angels” is the one he recorded for his funeral. He also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and leading the children’s pre-School choir. He was an avid golfer, golfing at least twice a week and more if Norma would let him. He was a member of the Bella Vista Golf Course. He would make his own putters and would give them away. Bill was also known as “Mr. Fix it” there was nothing he could not fix or repair. The Biggest attribute was his big giving heart and his generosity. Stanger Danger was not in his vocabulary, he never met a stranger he did not like. If that stranger needed the shirt off his back he gave it to them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 ½ years Norma Felkner, his two daughters, Brenda Hughes and husband Roger and Karen Burgess and husband Danny. He has four grandchildren, DJ Burgess and Kelli Reinert, Danielle Burgess and fiancé’ Corey Hasty, Ryan Hughes and Samantha Hughes. He was super proud of his 4 great grandchildren, Trinity Mae Burgess 17 months and Talon Hasty 11 months old and Bryce Hasty 10 years old and Blaine Hasty 9 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Eva Felkner, His older brother Eugene Felkner and his
Middle brother Lewis Felkner.

The Family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for you attending today’s service and all the prayers given to Bill over the past several years.

Donations may be made in Billy's name to American Cancer Society.
