Obituary for Claud Michael Wilcox

Claud Michael Wilcox, 70, of Claremore, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the home in Claremore, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born August 27, 1948 in Searcy, Arkansas: the son of Claud and Helen (Goad) Wilcox. Mike graduated from Bradford High School in Bradford, Arkansas, attended college until he joined the Navy in March of 1968.

Mike’s career started with Southwestern Bell where he worked for 23 years. Also during this time Mike coached little league youth teams, but Mike’s greatest passion was either umpiring softball and baseball games or refereeing basketball. His greatest joy was umpiring the World Series Little League Softball Games.

After retiring from Southwestern Bell, Mike began his second career with Southwest Airlines in Little Rock Arkansas. Mike transferred to Oklahoma City and then finally to the Southwest Family in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was a Customer Service Agent until he retired in February 2018.

Mike married Cynthia Magee on June 13, 2004, in Bryant, Arkansas and later moved to Oklahoma City, and in 2014 moved to Tulsa.

Mike is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” of the home, six children, Tracey Wolfe and husband Greg of Ward, Arkansas; Scott Hickman of Bryant, Arkansas; Melissa Lattin of Redfield, Arkansas; Benjamin “Ben” Hickman of Benton, Arkansas; Rachel McGee of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; and Morgan McGee of Mesquite, Texas. One sister, Bonnie Shaw and husband Jerry of Oil Tough, Arkansas; one brother-in law, Dave Hart; two grandsons, a great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Claud and Helen Wilcox and one sister, Beverly Hart.

Mike enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling, and the beach. Mike always had a smile, never met a stranger and always always had a hug to give you.

Mike touched so many lives in so many ways. Who knows how many quarters he would pull from the children’s ears either at the airport or on the ball fields and in basketball how many dollars it cost him when a player made a free throw. The candy canes..…wouldn’t dare try to guess how many he passed out at Christmas dressed as Santa.

Thank you Mr. Mike for all the laughter, tears, wonderful times, and hugs but mostly for your love. You will be greatly missed. Until we meet again!!!!
